This 17-day self-guided motorcycle adventure takes you on an unforgettable journey across the very best roads of the Alps. Starting and ending in Munich, you will ride through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Italy, linking together many of Europe's most famous mountain passes, scenic valleys, and rider-favorite roads—all at your own pace.


From the iconic hairpins of the Stelvio Pass and the sweeping curves of the Gavia Pass to the legendary Route des Grandes Alpes and the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites, this tour is packed with world-class riding from start to finish. You will experience the rugged beauty of Switzerland's high mountain passes, the endless twisties of the French Alps, the spectacular Verdon Canyon, and the unforgettable limestone towers that make the Dolomites one of the most beautiful riding destinations in the world.


The route combines many of Europe's Top 50 motorcycle roads and passes, including Stelvio Pass, Furka Pass, Col du Galibier, Col de l'Iseran, Col de la Bonette, Grand Saint-Bernard, Timmelsjoch, Passo Giau, Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, and many more. Along the way, you will ride historic mountain roads, cross international borders multiple times, discover remote Alpine villages, and enjoy scenery that changes dramatically from one day to the next.


Highlights include riding the complete heart of the Route des Grandes Alpes, exploring the spectacular red-rock gorges of southern France, circling the Verdon Canyon, enjoying a rest day in the Maritime Alps with an optional ride to Monaco, and finishing with several unforgettable days in the Dolomites. Optional route variations on selected days allow you to choose between shorter and longer riding options depending on your mood and riding style.

Detailed Tour Information

 

Day 1: Arrival in Munich

Welcome to Munich! This afternoon is all about arriving, settling in, and picking up your rental motorcycle if you are on one. Take some time to get familiar with your bike, check your gear, and load your GPX tracks. A relaxed evening in Bavaria is the perfect start to an unforgettable Alpine adventure.


Day 2: Munich to Stilfs (320 km)

The journey begins with a gradual transition from rolling countryside into the heart of the Alps. Quiet mountain roads, sweeping curves, and increasingly dramatic scenery provide the perfect warm-up for the days ahead. By the afternoon, you will find yourself surrounded by towering peaks and deep valleys, setting the tone for the incredible riding still to come.


Day 3: Stilfs to Chiavenna (250 km)

Today delivers the kind of riding that makes the Alps famous. Expect spectacular mountain scenery, endless curves, and several high-altitude crossings as you weave through some of the most impressive landscapes in Europe. The route combines technical sections, open mountain vistas, and quiet valleys before ending in northern Italy.


Day 4: Chiavenna to Ulrichen (206 km)

A day filled with classic Alpine riding awaits. You will travel through remote mountain regions, discover historic roads that have connected valleys for centuries, and enjoy a mix of flowing sweepers and tighter switchbacks. The scenery changes constantly as you cross from one mountain range into the next.


Day 5: Ulrichen to Megève (228 km)

The route continues west through some of the highest regions of the Alps. Snow-capped peaks, vast mountain panoramas, and scenic valleys accompany you throughout the day. As you approach France, the atmosphere changes once again, with elegant Alpine villages and breathtaking views dominating the landscape.


Day 6: Megève to Briançon (262 km)

Today marks the beginning of one of Europe's most celebrated motorcycle regions. Expect a full day of incredible mountain riding as you link together a series of spectacular roads through high Alpine terrain. Every hour brings new scenery, new curves, and another reason to stop for photos.


Day 7: Rest Day in Saint-Martin-Vésubie (160 km Optional)

Today is yours to enjoy however you choose. Relax in the mountains, explore the local village, or head out for an optional ride through some of the region's most famous roads. Riders choosing the optional route will experience a dramatic change of scenery as the mountains meet the Mediterranean coast.


Day 8: Saint-Martin-Vésubie to Castellane (250 km)

The Alps begin to reveal a different personality today. Rugged mountain landscapes give way to dramatic rock formations, deep canyons, and roads carved into steep cliffsides. It is a day filled with unforgettable scenery and some of the most entertaining roads of the entire tour.


Day 9: Castellane to Briançon (252 km)

Today combines remote mountain riding with spectacular canyon scenery. You will travel through landscapes that feel almost otherworldly, with colorful rock formations, dramatic gorges, and endless twists and turns. The route gradually climbs back into the higher mountains before returning to the heart of the Alps.


Day 10: Briançon to Aosta (250 km)

A true Alpine crossing day. The route takes you through some of the most impressive high-mountain terrain of the entire journey, crossing historic border regions and offering magnificent views in every direction. You finish the day in Italy surrounded by some of Europe's highest peaks.


Day 11: Aosta to Andermatt (290 km)

Today's route blends historic mountain roads with classic Swiss Alpine scenery. Expect a mix of challenging riding, scenic valleys, and spectacular mountain crossings. By evening, you arrive in one of the most famous motorcycle hubs in the Alps, perfectly positioned for another memorable day.


Day 12: Andermatt to Davos (225 km)

This is Swiss Alpine riding at its finest. The day features beautifully maintained mountain roads, traditional villages, lush meadows, and panoramic viewpoints. The riding is varied and enjoyable throughout, making it one of the most relaxing yet rewarding days of the tour.


Day 13: Davos to Fondo (217 km)

The route turns south once again as you make your way toward Italy. High mountain scenery gradually gives way to a different landscape and atmosphere, while the roads remain every bit as entertaining. The day combines technical sections with flowing curves and spectacular views.


Day 14: Fondo to Carezza (221 km)

Today you enter one of the most iconic motorcycle destinations in Europe. Massive rock formations rise above winding mountain roads, creating scenery unlike anywhere else in the Alps. Expect a full day of spectacular riding, endless photo opportunities, and some of the most memorable landscapes of the entire trip.


Day 15: Carezza to Munich (370 km)

Your final riding day offers one last chance to enjoy the mountains before heading back to Munich. Depending on your chosen route, you can either focus on high-alpine scenery or spend more time among the dramatic peaks of northern Italy. It is a fitting finale to an adventure that has crossed five countries and countless unforgettable roads.


Day 16: Departure from Munich

After breakfast, it is time for your individual departure. As you head home, you will take with you memories of towering mountains, incredible roads, charming villages, and one of Europe's greatest motorcycle adventures.

Motorcycle rentals and rental gear items are provided by Adventure Rental in Hamburg /Munich and are subject to availability and not included in the tour price. Prices are approximate and may vary – they include the regular mileages for the tour, full coverage insurance (with deductible), full pannier & top case set and GPS navigation system. Payment for rental items will be due at the start of the tour.
