About the Tour

Ride to the Top of the World: North Cape, Lofoten & Arctic Norway
There are two kinds of motorcycle riders when it comes to the North Cape: those who dream of riding to the North Cape, and those who have already done it. This is your chance to check of this bucket list ride. Over 19 unforgettable days, we travel from Hamburg all the way to Europe’s northern edge, crossing the Arctic Circle, riding through Finland and Norway, and following the long road north to the North Cape.
We start shortly after the summer solstice, when the Arctic days seem to go on forever. As we cross into Lapland and ride beyond the Arctic Circle, darkness barely arrives. At the North Cape, we have the chance to experience the midnight sun above the Arctic Sea: standing at the edge of the continent in the middle of the night, still surrounded by daylight. It is one of those moments that makes every mile north worthwhile.
This is a proper adventure, not a quick flight-in, flight-out trip. We take the ferry from Germany to Finland, then ride the whole way north through the forests, lakes, and open landscapes of Lapland. The further north we go, the more remote it feels. We cross into Norway, ride through wild Arctic scenery, and finally reach the North Cape before turning south again along the Norwegian coast. For the long journey south we will take scenic smaller roads along the coast where the roads are interrupted by countless ferry rides.
And then comes Lofoten. Sharp mountain peaks rising straight from the sea, fishing villages, quiet coastal roads, white beaches, island ferries, and views that never get old. Lofoten is one of the true highlights of northern Europe, and having ridden all the way to get there makes the experience even better. We will have our rest day here to celebrate the half-way point of the tour.
On our way south, we collect several of Norway’s great riding highlights: dramatic fjord roads, the Atlantic Ocean Road, Trollstigen, Geirangerfjord, mountain viewpoints, glaciers, and one of the most scenic hardpack mountain road for riders who want a little more adventure. This tour covers the places that our Essence of Norway tour does not reach: the vast distances of the north, the Arctic coast, the North Cape, Lofoten, and the long journey through Norway from top to bottom.
Ferries are part of the adventure, connecting us with islands, coastal roads, and places that would otherwise take far longer to reach. Some days are longer, because the North Cape is not a destination you reach by accident. But every long day has a reason, and every section brings us closer to a place that few riders ever experience from the saddle. High end BMW rental motorcycles are available for this tour, so you can take on the far north without worrying about getting your own bike there and back.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime motorcycle journey. We ride to the top of Europe, watch the midnight sun over the Arctic Ocean, explore Lofoten, and return through some of Norway’s finest roads. When we arrive back in Hamburg, you will one of the few riders that has done the journey
“I had the time of my life riding through such a magnificent and breathtaking Norwegian landscape! I met some truly awesome riders who are considered friends and will not be forgotten. With Oliver’s expert guidance and knowledge of the surroundings, all I had to do was enjoy the ride—absolutely the best experience from start to finish. Awesome job, Oliver!”

“I joined Oliver for tours in Norway and the West Alps—both were truly exciting experiences! Every day was perfectly planned, with options to match our energy and skill. As a less experienced rider, I always felt supported—Oliver kept the group together and offered helpful tips through the Cardo intercom. I’m 150% sure anyone joining his tours will be absolutely thrilled.”

Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Northern Germany & Ferry Departure
Arrival in Hamburg, with rental motorcycle pick-up in the afternoon and time to meet your guide and fellow riders. We leave later in the day for the ferry terminal, board our overnight ship, and settle in as the journey toward the far north begins.

Day 2: Across the Baltic Sea
Today is spent on board as our ferry makes its way across the Baltic Sea toward Finland. Relax, enjoy the views from the ship, and get to know the group while we travel north toward the start of our Scandinavian riding adventure.
Day 3: Finland’s Great Eastern Wilderness
After arriving in Finland, we leave the coast behind and ride deep into the country’s vast interior. The route follows a long and scenic path through forests, open countryside, and quiet northern landscapes as we begin making our way toward Lapland.
Day 4: Into Lapland & the Arctic Circle
We continue north through Finland’s wide-open wilderness, where the roads become quieter and the scenery takes on a distinctly Arctic feel. Along the way, we cross the Arctic Circle and enjoy the chance to visit one of Lapland’s most recognisable landmarks.
Day 5: Endless Northern Roads & the Norwegian Border

A long and rewarding day takes us farther north through remote Lapland, with flowing roads cutting through forests, open tundra, and vast empty landscapes. By the end of the day, we cross into Norway and enter the land of fjords, mountains, and Arctic coastlines.
Day 6: The Road to Europe’s Northern Edge
We ride across the open, windswept landscapes of the far north toward one of Europe’s most iconic destinations. Arriving in the afternoon gives us time to experience the dramatic cliffs, wide Arctic horizon, and remarkable feeling of standing at the edge of the continent.
Day 7: Midnight Sun & Arctic Coastlines
After a short riding day, we continue along Norway’s far northern coast, where the landscape opens into huge views across the Arctic Sea. This gives us time to enjoy the long northern evening and, with a little luck, experience the midnight sun from an unforgettable setting.
Day 8: Lyngen Alps & Fjord Ferries

Today combines spectacular coastal roads with a series of short ferry crossings beneath steep mountain peaks. We follow the fjords through one of northern Norway’s most dramatic regions before arriving in a lively Arctic city surrounded by sea and mountains.
Day 9: Senja, Island Roads & Arctic Beaches
We leave the city and head west toward a chain of islands connected by ferries, bridges, and spectacular coastal roads. The day brings rugged mountains rising from the sea, quiet beaches, and some of the most impressive scenery on the entire tour.
Day 10: Into the Lofoten Islands
A final ferry crossing carries us toward the Lofoten Islands, where dramatic peaks rise directly from the water. We ride through fishing villages, narrow coastal roads, and spectacular island scenery before reaching our base for the next two nights.
Day 11: Rest Day in Lofoten
Today is yours to enjoy at a slower pace. Relax by the water, explore the nearby fishing villages, take photographs, enjoy a short local ride, or simply soak up the remarkable atmosphere of this unique Arctic island landscape.

Day 12: Lofoten Farewell & the Arctic Circle
We leave Lofoten by ferry and continue south through a varied mix of island roads, coastal crossings, and mountain scenery. Along the way, we pass one of Norway’s most powerful tidal currents before continuing toward the region around the Arctic Circle.
Day 13: Coastal Norway & Island Ferries
Today we follow quiet roads along Norway’s rugged western coastline, broken up by several scenic ferry crossings. We can choose between a faster route and a more relaxed coastal option, depending on weather, timing, and the group’s riding rhythm.
Day 14: Coastal Backroads to Trondheim
We continue south through a beautiful mix of small roads, rolling countryside, and fjord crossings. The day gradually brings us toward one of Norway’s historic cities, where we have time to enjoy the waterfront and atmosphere in the evening.

Day 15: The Atlantic Ocean Road & Fjord Country
Leaving Trondheim, we ride west toward one of Norway’s most famous coastal roads. A remarkable series of bridges links small islands above the Atlantic Ocean before we continue through classic fjord scenery to our evening stop.
Day 16: Troll Roads, High Viewpoints & Mountain Gravel
A true Norwegian highlight day takes us across a famous mountain road, through dramatic valleys, and toward spectacular high-altitude viewpoints. The route also includes an optional historic mountain road with a well-maintained hardpack surface and unforgettable scenery.
Day 17: Glaciers, Stave Churches & Hidden Mountain Roads

We continue through Norway’s central highlands, passing traditional wooden architecture and enjoying views toward Europe’s largest mainland glacier. A small toll road leads us through a hidden mountain landscape, delivering one final day of memorable Scandinavian riding.
Day 18: Mountain Valleys & the Oslo Ferry
Our final full riding day follows quiet mountain roads south toward Oslo. We arrive in time to board our overnight ferry, where we can relax, share stories from the road, and enjoy a scenic departure through the Oslofjord.
Day 19: Return to Hamburg & End of Tour
After arriving in Kiel in the morning, we ride the final stretch back to Hamburg. We return the rental motorcycles, say goodbye to the group, and wrap up an unforgettable journey from the Baltic Sea to the North Cape, Lofoten, and the Norwegian fjords.

Tour Profile / Skill Level:
This tour is designed for riders with at least intermediate riding experience. The roads are generally easy to ride, with good surfaces, flowing curves, and manageable mountain sections. Advanced technical riding or off-road experience is not required.
The main challenge is stamina rather than road difficulty. Several days involve long hours in the saddle, so riders should be comfortable maintaining focus, energy, and enjoyment throughout a full touring day.
Regular fuel, coffee, photo, and sightseeing stops help break up the riding day. The route is best suited to riders who enjoy varied scenery, longer touring distances, and the sense of achievement that comes with a true long-distance motorcycle adventure.

Group Riding
One of the most rewarding aspects of this tour is the shared experience of riding with like-minded enthusiasts. There’s something special about exploring the open road together, conquering mountain passes side by side, and sharing the day’s highlights over dinner each evening. Many riders find that the friendships formed on tours like these last well beyond the final day, creating a sense of camaraderie that adds a whole new dimension to the journey.
Riding in a group does require a bit of give and take, as everyone’s safety and enjoyment depend on mutual respect and a spirit of cooperation. By embracing the group dynamic, you’ll not only enhance your own experience but also contribute to an unforgettable adventure for everyone involved.
