Join us on a thrilling 13-day motorcycle journey through the heart of the Balkans, where coastal roads, dramatic mountain passes, and ancient towns await. This tour takes you from the Alps of Austria, through Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia, and back again, showcasing some of the most breathtaking and varied landscapes Europe has to offer.

 

Spring is the ideal time to explore this region—before the summer heat kicks in—making the ride comfortable and the scenery all the more lush.

Starting in Munich, we will ride through legendary routes like the Vrsic Pass in Slovenia, Europe’s most scenic and famous coastal road, the Jadranska Magistrale, and discover the beauty of Montenegro

Along the way, we will stop at unique spots like the stunning Centina River Spring, known as the Eye of the Earth, and the intriguing Zeljava Air Base with its abandoned Douglas airplane, adding a layer of history and mystery to our adventure.

For those coming from further away or simply looking to experience the ride on a top-notch machine, we offer the option of renting a premium adventure motorcycle, including models from BMW and KTM. This tour is designed to offer a perfect balance of thrilling riding, breathtaking views, and moments to relax and take it all in.

Itinerary

Rental Bike Pickup / Early Arrivals Meet & Greet for all early arrivals on the day before the tour begins. You'll pick up your rental bike and enjoy a welcome dinner with fellow riders who have already arrived. It’s the perfect time to connect and get ready for the journey ahead

Day 1 (370 km): Munich to Afritz am See We start the tour with a fast ride on the Autobahn heading toward the Austrian border. From there, we transition to small, winding roads across several scenic passes, including the beautiful Nockalm Scenic Road, as we make our way to the town of Afritz am See.

Day 2 (300 km): Afritz am See to Risnjak Today’s route takes us across the border into Slovenia via the Wurzen Pass and the picturesque Vrsic Pass. We will wind through Slovenia’s curvy roads, enjoying the stunning landscapes, and end the day near the Adriatic Sea, close to Risnjak.

Day 3 (326 km): Risnjak to Split We embark on an exhilarating ride along the famous Jadranska Magistrale, one of Europe’s longest coastal roads, with sweeping views of the Adriatic Sea. A faster motorway section helps us reach Split, where we can relax and soak up the coastal atmosphere.

Day 4 (280 km): Split to Dubrovnik Our journey continues along the Jadranska Magistrale, taking us to the winding toll road up to the peak of Sveti Jure for breathtaking views. We ride down to Dubrovnik, where the day ends with stunning coastal scenery.

Day 5: Rest Day in Dubrovnik A well-deserved rest day to explore the historic city of Dubrovnik. Wander through the old town, walk along the ancient city walls, and immerse yourself in the unique charm of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 6 (263 km): Dubrovnik to Kolasin Today, we ride along the coastline to the Bay of Kotor, followed by a scenic ascent on the serpentine road of Kotor. We will pass through Lovcen National Park and ride along parts of Lake Skadar, ending the day in Kolasin.

Day 7 (234 km): Kolasin to Zabljak Prepare for a day of curvy roads in Montenegro. We will explore the breathtaking landscapes of Durmitor National Park and cross the iconic Tara Bridge. Tonight, we stay in Zabljak, right in the heart of Durmitor’s rugged beauty.

Day 8 (234 km): Zabljak to Mostar We head over the Sedlo Pass and follow the road along the scenic Piva Canyon. After crossing into Bosnia, we reach Mostar, where you can explore the old town and marvel at its historic Ottoman-era architecture.

Day 09 (233 km): Mostar to Knin Today, we cross the border back into Croatia and ride through serene inland roads. A highlight of the day is the Centina River Spring, also known as the Eye of the Earth, a stunning natural wonder tucked away in the countryside.

Day 10 (250 km): Knin to Novi Vinodolski We continue on Croatia’s inland roads, stopping at the abandoned Zeljava Air Base with its intriguing old Douglas airplane. We end the day on the Adriatic coast at Novi Vinodolski, catching the last light over the sea.

Day 11 (300 km): Novi Vinodolski to Arnoldstein Crossing back into Slovenia, we aim for the dramatic Mangart Pass if time permits. This scenic ride through Slovenia’s mountain landscapes brings us closer to our final stretch back toward Austria.

Day 12 (380 km): Arnoldstein to Munich Our tour concludes with a thrilling ride on the Großglockner High Alpine Road and a stop at Edelweissspitze, offering spectacular Alpine views. In the late afternoon, we return to Munich for bike drop-off and a farewell to our unforgettable adventure through the Balkans.

Tour Profile

This tour is designed for riders who crave a blend of adventure, scenic diversity, and cultural discovery. Covering moderate daily distances with approximately 4-6 hours of net riding time each day, the tour combines thrilling mountain passes, coastal roads, and hidden paths through some of the Balkans’ most stunning landscapes. Riders can expect a mix of smooth highways, twisty canyon roads, and winding mountain routes, all offering new perspectives of each region’s natural beauty. The tour is perfect for intermediate riders who enjoy the excitement of varied terrain and want a balanced ride that includes time to explore historic towns and enjoy scenic rest stops. With expertly planned routes and a relaxed pace, this tour offers the ideal mix of challenging and rewarding riding experiences.

Skill Level: Intermediate 

This tour requires at least an intermediate skill level; riders should be comfortable navigating winding roads, handling hairpin turns, and passing traffic on mountain passes. While riders with varying experience are welcome, participants should have some familiarity with challenging terrain to fully enjoy the journey. One of the highlights of this tour is the chance to improve your riding skills, no matter your current level. I’ll be there to offer tips and guidance along the way, helping you build confidence and refine your technique as you tackle some of this trips most thrilling roads. For more advanced riders, many sections of the tour allow you to take on the road at your own pace, so you can push your limits. Our group structure ensures everyone rides at their comfort pace, making this tour a rewarding experience for all skill levels.

Group Riding

One of the most rewarding aspects of this tour is the shared experience of riding with like-minded enthusiasts. There’s something special about exploring the open road together, conquering mountain passes side by side, and sharing the day’s highlights over dinner each evening. Many riders find that the friendships formed on tours like these last well beyond the final day, creating a sense of camaraderie that adds a whole new dimension to the journey. Riding in a group does require a bit of give and take, as everyone’s safety and enjoyment depend on mutual respect and a spirit of cooperation. Booking Details

The tour price includes comprehensive planning, a dedicated tour guide throughout, accommodations, and breakfast each day. You will stay in carefully selected 3- and 4-star hotels, each chosen for its unique charm, location, or historical significance. Breakfast is included, and we will either dine at the hotel or have nearby options, giving you the chance to savor local cuisine after a day on the road. You will also receive GPX data for each route to enhance your riding experience. I will be capturing parts of our journey on social media, sharing highlights on Instagram and in YouTube videos, so you will have memorable snapshots to look back on. For accommodations, booking is encouraged for shared double rooms, where you will be paired with a compatible roommate. However, single rooms may be available upon request—just reach out to inquire. This exclusive tour is limited to a small group to ensure a personalized and unforgettable experience.
