Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions
What should I bring on a motorcycle tour?
You should bring your riding gear (helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, boots, warm layers as needed) - personal items (passport, driver's license, insurance, visa), and comfortable clothing for off-bike activities. Rain gear is recommended for all tours
If rental motorcycles are offered some or all the riding gear can also be rented (check the description) - these are typically top of the line Goretex suits from Klim and waterproof boots.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes, travel insurance is hightly recommended. It helps cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and personal belongings. Also, some insurance cover the recovery of a motorcycle in case of a mechanical faluire or accident. Make sure to have a comprehensive travel insurance policy before your tour.
Do I need a special license to ride in Europe?
You need a valid motorcycle license from your home country. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is also recommended for riding in Europe. Please check beforehand if your driver's licence is accepted in the countries you plan to travel too.
When should I arrive and depart for the tour?
We recommend flying in 1-2 days before the first riding day, especially if traveling from overseas, to get over any jet lag. For tours with rental bikes, we typically meet in the afternoon of the first tour day to pick up bikes and ride to the start hotel. The last tour day is a full day of riding with a late afternoon bike drop-off. Your earliest departure is the morning after the last riding day. If you have extra time, exploring Munich before or after the tour is a great option.
How is the bike rental paid?
The bike rental fee is paid locally and directly to the rental partner when you pick up the bike. It is not included in the tour price and is handled separately from your tour booking.
How many extra days should I plan in Munich before or after the tour?
For first-time visitors, I suggest arriving 2-3 days early to explore the city center (Marienplatz, English Garden, beer halls), enjoy Bavarian food, and shake off travel fatigue. You can also pick up your rental bike a day early for a warm-up ride. After the tour, spending an extra day or two is a nice way to wind down - Munich is a beautiful, walkable city.
