Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions
Are meals included in the tour package?
Most of our tours include breakfast. Dinner and lunches are usually not included, giving you the flexibility to explore local cuisine during the day. Details are given with every tour description.
Are there any safety measures in place?
Yes, safety is my top priority. I provide pre-tour briefings, experienced guides, and well-maintained motorcycles (if offered) to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
What if I encounter mechanical issues during the tour?
We will ensure that any mechanical issues are addressed or call for local support. However, if you cannot continue on your motorcycle you will be responsible for transporting the motorcycle and yourself home. I highly recommend to get insurance for this instance - it often comes as a bundle with travel health insurance.
This does not apply to rental motorcycles. In this case, the rental company's insurance and roadside assistance will cover any breakdowns. They will arrange for recovery and provide a replacement motorcycle if needed.
How far will we ride each day?
Daily riding distances vary but typically range from 150 to 300 kilometers (93 to 186 miles). Riding days with challenging roads will be shorter in distance and motorway section may be longer in distance. The days are planned around net riding time - typically between 5-6 hours max. Each tour description will provide specific details on daily distances.
What types of accommodations are provided?
The tours are offered a range of accommodations, from 3 to 4-star hotels, boutique inns, and unique lodging experiences like castles or mountain lodges.
Are there any rest days included in the tour?
Some tours include rest days to relax, explore, and enjoy the local culture and sights. Rest days allow you to take a break from riding and fully immerse yourself in the destination.
Do we ride in the rain?
Yes, absolutely. There is no bad weather, there is only bad gear! With the right gear and a little bit of confidence while riding on wet roads days with "bad" weather can offer of the most spectacular experiences on the motorcycle. It is very rare that it rains all the time but be prepared and bring proper rain gear.
How do I pay for tolls, gas, and food during the tour?
You can pay for tolls and gas with a credit card virtually everywhere we travel. It is still good to have some Euros in cash on you, just in case. Note that for larger credit card transactions, you may need your PIN number, so make sure you have it before traveling.
What is motorcycle traffic like in Europe?
Motorcycle riding in Europe is generally very rider-friendly. Our tour routes avoid major cities and highways as much as possible, so you will be on mountain roads, backroads, and scenic routes most of the time. Traffic is rarely an issue on our routes.
What is the weather in the Alps like on the tours?
Summer tours (June-August) in the Alps offer the most stable and warm weather, making them the safest bet for excellent riding conditions. Late-season tours (October) in the high Alps can be a gamble - you might get stunning, empty mountain roads, but it can also be cold and wet. If weather conditions deteriorate, I will reroute to avoid higher elevations and keep the riding enjoyable.
